Like AOL, Google logs all of your web searches through the use of an identifying cookie.
A brief tutorial has been written that explains how to block Google from identifying you via a cookie or IP.
In other news, Google, whose corporate slogan is "don't be evil", has sent legal letters to major media organizations warning them not to use Google as a verb, lest their trademark be jeopardized by common usage of the word. Xerox did the same thing years ago and it seemed silly then, too.
Google has built an empire by bending the law to leverage other people's content (via Google News, Google Books, etc.), so this seems a bit ironic.
